The Blue Anchor, Meath Street

Menu/Dishes:

A pop-up wine bistro in the back of Meath’s Street’s Legit cafe offering a set three-course menu in an intimate setting. They’re currently offering BYO but hope to have their full wine license soon. We got a small cheese board and meat board to start, two mains of beautiful pea risotto and shared the shortcrust tartlet with spinach and mascarpone cheese for dessert.

Price Point:

€65 for our full meal which felt fair for the beautiful ingredients offered. The starters seemed under-priced as my cheese board was huge despite being the smaller portion while, the main was perhaps a little overpriced at €18 so, while the pricing on individual dishes may be a little off, the overall cost of the meal was very fairly priced.

Atmosphere:

This spot is completely hidden, you would really only notice it if you’re looking for it as the entrance is separate to the main entrance of Legit. It created a clandestine feel which I really liked, the place is small which offered an intimate vibe.

Service:

The staff are clearly very eager to see this place do well as their passion was obvious. Really warm and friendly service, the knew the menu well and were eager to ensure we had a great experience.

Why I Liked it Enough to Share:

As a former Dublin 8 resident I still have such a soft spot for the area and everything that comes out of it… I was a Legit regular so I’m delighted to see the location offer something as special as a pop-up wine bistro. Marcin is super passionate about wine so the wine offerings are different and interesting while the super-fresh food is served in a unique and intimate setting.
