Wagamama, South King Street
Wagamama, South King Street
Menu/ dishes:
Amazing variety of Japanese and Asian inspired dishes… literally something for everyone!
Price Point:
Slightly on the higher end of Asian restaurants in Dublin but is at the end for price and more importantly, for quality. You are absolutely getting what you pay for at Wagamama
Atmosphere:
Firstly, they’d changed the decor since I’d last been from the long picnic bench style seating to a wider variety of seating options including mostly smaller tables. Personally I’ve never been a fan of the communal dining style set up (… I can’t help getting distracted by other people’s conversations when they’re so close!) so that was a positive for me straight away.
Secondly, I was blown away by how busy the restaurant was when we arrived late on a Thursday night (with plenty of people still waiting to be seated!).. it was bloody packed and, its a big dining space! Sometimes this can turn out to be a negative if you feel like you’re shouting over a crowd but, the atmosphere never felt too busy, it felt more like the perfect balance of organised chaos.
Service:
We were served by a lady called Dee who was an absolute dream, as were all the staff who brought our food or interacted with us at all. It felt like the staff were happy which is a great vibe to get in a restaurant… I feel like you can often pick up on negativity or a ‘bad air’ with staff in a dining situation so it was lovely to see so many people who appeared to be happy in their jobs.
Why I liked it enough to share:
Every dish we tried had an amazing dept of flavor & was beautifully presented and, they serve the most delicious €5 cocktails I’ve ever had in Dublin… so good! It was years since I’d been to Wagamama but, as soon as we were back in I couldn’t remember why I’d left it so long!
Perfect for:
A mid-week catch up with friends.
