Ok, firstly, I know I am ever so sliiiightly late with this post but in my defence, my halloween celebrations this year consisted of 2 festivals over the course of 2 weekends and, well, that short of shiz takes it out of me!
Im just about back on my feet after the chaos that was Samhain and middle earth festival, one was in the Wicklow mountians and the other was a 4 hour bus journey away in Bundoran (and what felt like a 10 day bus journey home) brilliant fun was had and that was the whole objective so Im a happy halloween bunny 🙂
I take fancy dress very seriously and since this was my first halloween back in Ireland after travelling I wanted it to be a big one… I had decided on scarier costumes initially but then felt like Id have to be in a gloomy character all night (yes, actually!) so went with the above instead… a 1950’s diner lady, Carmen Miranda and a 70’s disco diva. All of the costumes were made from items bought on Ebay, charity shops or just stuff I already owned (for the disco diva I just had to purchase the fro, I had everything else) and in the end I was really happy with how they turned out.
I was very surprised that, not only did my headpiece for the Carmen costume stay intact for the night, when I found it the next day in a pile on the floor it still had every piece of fruit Id left the house with still on it! The burger earings got lots of questions the night I wore that costume which made me laugh… loads of girls asked me where Id bought them, probably more out of horror then desire but having made them myself seemed a lot more obvious than having picked them up in topshop!
So, thats it now until next year unless Im lucky enough to get invited to a fancy dress occasion in the interim. Hope you guys had a brilliant halloween, Iv been enjoying everybody else’s costume posts.. keep em coming 🙂
