Last week Debenhams kindly invited me to Lusty Beg island as part of the launch of their new athleisure range where we’d spend 24 hours taking in the beautiful surroundings, getting a taste for their outdoor activities and, enjoy an overnight stay in one of their beautiful lakeside cabins.

The whole experience was perfect from start to finish… Lusty Beg is somewhere I’d wanted to visit for a while after reading about the fantastic range of activities they have on offer alongside an outstanding restaurant and gorgeous accommodation.

As a lot of you know, my parents live on Inis Meain, an island off the cost of Galway so I have a special interest in seeing what other islands have to offer!

The rooms were spacious with private verandas, a generous bathroom with rain head showers and a kitchenette equipped with more than you’d ever likely need on a few-day trip. Debenhams had generously left activewear from their new range, pajamas for the night’s stay and some lovely Body Shop goodies to ensure that we were fresh for the evening’s activities of cocktail making in their spacious bar.

We were greeted with a gin reception on arrival before being shown to our cabins before delicious lunch then out on a boat tour around the island, some clay pigeon shooting (I managed to shoot the first one but it was all downhill from there!), off roading around the island and then back to change for cocktail making and dinner.

We were fortunate enough to eat dinner in the company of the owners of Lusty Beg for dinner & it was fantastic to hear their stories of how the island has come to be what it is today and how the manage some of the daily tasks that we might take for granted not living with a lake between us & our nearest convenience store!

The night ended with drinks in the island’s cosy bar before a great night’s sleep in the cabin. The following morning we had the pleasure of visiting the island’s impressive spa for a massage to shake the night’s cobwebs then before I knew it we were back on the road to Dublin.

It was an honor to visit such a gorgeous spot & a reminder that you don’t have to travel a million miles to experience something new if you’re looking for the perfect staycation, Lusty Beg is it xx
