Androgynous Look for a Formal Occasion

Firstly, apologies for the quality of these photos… I go out a lot in the evenings (/on nights out) so it seems a shame  that my style posts are so focused on day time looks buuuuuuut then I attempt to photograph my evening looks & the lack of natural light just doesn’t do justice.

Last weekend I attended two formal events, I’m not a big evening dress type of gal and after wearing one for the first of the weekend’s events I definitely wasnt in the mood to don another (nor did I have much choice with a very limited selection of that type in my wardrobe). So, this is what I came up with… despite being in trousers and flats I felt the structure of the jacket coupled with the detailing in the overall look give it enough edge to contend with the sparkly numbers which were choice for most other guests.

The pièce de résistance of this look for me is this beautiful structured vintage Céline clutch that was handed down to me by my very stylish grandmother. It was bought in Paris about 60 years ago and although it is a treasured item for me, I hardly use it as it literally just about fits my phone and a lip gloss whereas I’m usually more of a ‘throw everything in the bag’. sorta girl… ya know, just incase.
