Description

Welcome to my weekly events posts, published every single Sunday on icomeundone.com, I really hope you enjoy them.

While these posts are free for you to use they are not free for me to create. If you would like to support me in creating them you can go to Patreon here and pledge as little as $1 per month (22 cent per post) towards the work I put in to researching, creating and sharing these events posts with you every single week. Your pledge will also gain you exclusive access to all my extra Dublin-related posts published throughout the year.

It’s the equivalent to buying me a drink at Christmas as a thank you. You can cancel or amend your pledge at any time.

If you don’t like the idea of Patreon but would like to show support you can send a donation through Paypal here.

Your pledge is way for me to make a small living from the work I do, thank you.

Description- The Battle of the Axe Comedy and Open Mic Club has been hosting events since 1996, making it over 22 years old – although it’s a bit like Peter Pan – it will never grow up.

It has been a launch pad for some of the country’s most iconic masters of mirth and it remains one of the most friendly places for new would-be comedians to cut their teeth and perfect their jokes.

Offer a little support to the newbies sweating behind the ears or lose your sense of public decorum altogether as you roar laughing at a well-known circuit comics trying their new jokes on for size.

Either way, the craic will be mighty – and isn’t that just what Dublin is about?

Location- The Workman’s Club, 10 Wellington Quay

Description- The Who What Why When Where Quiz is basically a general knowledge quiz about famous people, regular things, mundane reasons, historical moments and common places, with some rare peppered in. It won’t be like a normal quiz, but it won’t be so different that you go home feeling like the world has changed and you’ll never feel comfortable ever again.

So pull together your smartest pals (or the ones with the most useless information in their brians), or even just a few friends you’d like to sit with for a few hours of good old-fashioned trivia fun. Teams are maximum of 4 players.

There will be prizes that make your head spin, and the winners will even go home richer than they were before they bought their tickets. Plus, we’ll all grow a little wiser and a little more cynical – isn’t that what we all really want?

Kevin James’ Chanting Circles are a co-creative and empowering experience that can have you singing your heart out, dancing in bliss and diving deep into the profound silence that follows.

The Songs and mantras of Kevin James Carroll are about re-connection. They are a gift to the many hearts remembering the ONE. An expression of the movement of realisation that is spreading across the planet right now.

This is a movement that honors the ancient cultures and religions of the world, embracing their commonality… their Oneness.

Each Heartsong is a modern devotional Hymn, a song of clear intent and purpose: to expand awareness beyond the thinking mind, to enter the bliss of the heart.

Kim will be joining us again this year and bringing his magic and activation to the circle as well as taking us on some of his unique journeys. Kim will again be launching his own circles soon starting in the UK & Ireland.

IT’S GOOD TO LIVE, LAUGH AND PLAY

Family health and wellness is central to the new festival zone- Laya Healthcare’s It’s Good to Live.

The ‘Its Good to Live’ outdoor stage showcases an array of fun and free classes for families to get active to. Travel back to the 80’s and get into the groove with Retro Sweatro, enjoy high energy trampoline classes from Boogie Bounce, find your rhythm with Afro Summer Dance & Drumming, join in and belt out a few tunes with Sing Along Social and get ready to bust out a few belly laughs and smiles with Laughter Yoga.

Have food chats with our living healthy advocates The Happy Pear and join social media superstar James Patrice as your host of this action-packed stage where kids and parents can challenge him to a dance off and lots more.

Ireland’s first health homework programme, Super Troopers with Laya healthcare will be back in action again this year with a SUPER new activity packed with mindfulness and play for all the family to enjoy.

Another new feature to explore in our ‘it’s good to live’ area is children’s play area ‘LIL LAYA VILLE’. In ‘Lil Laya Ville’ kids transform into mini-chefs and prepare culinary delights in a fabulous food truck, a grocery and even a sushi bar! The food, and all the games are made from wood and allow kids to imagine, create and lose themselves in ‘good ole fashioned’ play.

Laya healthcare will once again bring their ever-popular Kid’s Court to the family-loving festival, but this year it is even messier, meaner and more mischievous than ever! Children can put their parents on trial, who may be sentenced to a custard-pie-in-the-face or a bucket of iced water thrown as punishment.

Laya Healthcare partners Leinster Rugby will also be paying the festival a visit with mascot Leo the Lion. Festival goers will be put through their paces with a sports skills session and some fun activities to keep fit and train like a pro.

Lastly, after a packed day of spectacular activities visitors will be able to kick-back and take a few minutes to relax the mind and rest their feet in laya healthcare’s chill out area and be entertained by the eagerly awaited Living Statues DJS who are definitely not to be missed!

In this workshop, you will learn the physiological response in the body that causes anxiety, and learn ways to manage it through breathing, yoga and meditation techniques. You will walk away feeling calmer, with a toolbelt of inner resources to help you in your daily life.

Anxiety is something that is discussed more and more in daily life, as we are all living in an environment of constant stimulation and immediacy. This is not the environment our bodies and minds were built for, so in order to thrive in this environment, we need to develop strategies and habits that support our inner workings and change our relationship to our stress response.

This workshop will be a safe, fun learning space to explore the reactions of your mind and body to the world around you – I love these techniques and use some of them daily and they have transformed my relationship to anxiety.

Come along so we can explore these techniques together – bring a notebook, a pen and an open mind! If you have any questions about the workshop, reach out to me and I’ll happily chat through them with you.
